Why are zinc blocks attached to the hull?

Zinc blocks serve as sacrificial anodes, connected to the hull's iron hull, and seawater forms a galvanic cell. Among them, zinc is more active as the negative electrode, hull as the positive electrode, and seawater as the electrolyte. The hull, as a positive electrode, will not be corroded by seawater until the zinc block is completely corroded.
